Q: What’s the best eatin’ advice you got??? (I was actually asked this question exactly like I wrote it)

A: This is the final wrap about eating and it goes like this … if you’re reading this then I’m willing to bet a year’s pay you’re not starving!!! When you go out to eat or even grab something at the house, take a few seconds to get in control of your stomach and taste buds and make a healthy choice & not chow on the first thing you see or smell!! Making healthy choices is a habit that you have to develop if you want to be consistently fuel your fitness.

A: This week we’re talking about Carbs, Proteins & Fat. Last week we said how you NEED all 3 for proper nutrition … ANY diet that wants you to cut OUT one of these basic nutrients is a “fad” diet and should be avoided at all costs!!! We also said last week that your body needs carbs, fat, protein just like your car needs gas, oil & water – try not putting one of those in car and see how long it runs right!!

I do hope you’re having a Happy Easter weekend. The symbolism is great and the message is awesome - please find a minute or more of quiet time to remember the reason for the season.

The weather is perfect if you ask me. I’m still trying to enjoy as much cool weather as possible ‘cuz you know it’ll get it stoopid hot soon! It’ll be my first summer in the Hill Country – what should I expect?? Your thoughts please!!

Holy freakin smokes … it’s already APRIL!!!!!! Man oh man … the hot summer is just around the corner. I’ll be doing a lot of hiking at the area state parks for sure. Don’t be hatin’ up there in Dallas, but Enchanted Rock is only about an hour away!!!!! WhooYah!!!

OK, this week’s blog is the last one in the series we’ve been doing … and it’s about eating!!!! This one could go on for a couple or three weeks … it’s a little complicated (like the Pope is a “little” Catholic).

Hey, we’re wrapping up the YMCA Partners Campaign at the end of this month here in my town. Please go to the local Y where you are and give a little something. The Y does afterschool programs, scholorships for memberships if someone cant afford the dues, they feed kids in the summer when schools out and they dont get to eat at school ... they do a LOT of stuff. The money you give stays in your town to help THAT Y. No one is turned away because they can’t pay … the Campaign does a LOT for the community. Donate what you might spend on a typical night out dinner – that would be awesome!!

I hope this finds all of you well and healthy. I hope you also had a great “spring break” week. I went home to see my family and work in my folks backyard “jungle”!!!! It was a freakin mess. It rained all week so we never did get to do any work back there. I guess I gotta go in another time and get it done!! I’m sure there are tools, lawn equipment, building materials … a Mayan Pyramid, some old ancient mummy, Jimmy Hoffa and a bigfoot … ok, maybe not the last few, but I don’t think my pop has been back there in YEARS!!!!
