I hope this finds you well and healthy. Hope you’re enjoying a great Sunday – we need more rain though. Just in case you weren’t aware, July 4th is this Friday. The gym will open at 7a and close at 3:30p. I have a few of y’all that want to show up and that’s cool with me, I’m planning on being there like normal except starting at 7a. Let me know your plans and I’ll be happy to work with you any way I can.

Remember a few weeks back when I was at TAMU for that conference … well, the keynote speaker was the “Global Director” for Michael Johnson Performance Center, right close by in McKinney, Texas. Check it out @ michaeljohnsonperformance.com. Michael has 5 gold medals from 3 Olympics – Barcelona ’92, Atlanta ’96 & Sydney 2000 plus several more gold at the World Games between ’91 & ’97.
Your "Go-To" workout
I hope this finds you well and healthy. I just saw on the Weather Channel that we’re going to be getting some rain … and a lot of it, WOOHOO!! ‘Hope you’re having a good Sunday.
Some of you knew this and some didn’t, but this past Friday was the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the landing of allied troops on Omaha Beach in Normandy. If you know a soldier from that event or know their family please give them your heartfelt thanks. That was by all accounts one of if not the bloodiest battles in almost any war. Unless you were there, there is no way to know what that must’ve been like for those soldiers. The closest any of us could possibly get to know what that might’ve been like is to watch the opening scenes of “Saving Private Ryan”. If you haven’t seen that movie in a while … do.
Eating like a caveman or women
I hope this finds you well and healthy ... and eating CLEAN! I say it ALL the time when someone asks me what to eat to get or stay healthy. My usual answer is something like ... if it flys, crawls, swims, if you can pluck it out of the ground or pull it from a tree or bush, and if it has ONE main ingredient ... then eat it. Otherwise it 'aint real food. Now obviously if you are one of the very small number of people that are seriously training for a specific event, then you're allowed a few "power" foods, but please still check with a PROFESSIONAL nutritionist and NOT that big guy in the gym.
Honoring Memorial Day
I hope this finds you well and healthy & heading into a great weekend! It should be a nice one – even if it rains … WE NEED IT!!!
Monday is Memorial Day, the day we set aside to honor our men & women soldiers that have died in service to the country. Please take the time to thank a current soldier, a past soldier and certainly thank a “new” soldier going off to bootcamp to face military life and train to defend the country.
These should be the “heros” we want to emulate & follow their stats – not the “Johnny football’s” out there who play a freaking game and expect the world to bow at their feet because of it. A lot of you guys and a few of you gals can rattle off all kinds of sport stats … and I guess that’s cool if that’s what you’re into, but I’ll make a bet with any of you that your favorite “sport hero” couldn’t last one day of the Army’s Best Ranger competition held every year. Look it up, it makes the NFL combine look like a kids backyard picnic.
Donating blood & platelets

Most of you know that I donate platelets at Carter BloodCare every month. I’ve been donating since ’97 and look forward to it every time. This week’s blog will be directed to that end. I’d really like to ask y’all to consider getting in touch with Carter and make a donation. It’s so incredibly lifesaving and the need is great. They are always in need of every type of blood and blood product. Blood is made of 4 main components – white blood cells (infection fighters), red blood cells (oxygen delivery), platelets (clotting factors) & plasma (fluid that all the other float in).
